Choosing The Best Family Carrier

  • by Patrick Gioko

Well, I would say that the choice of the best family car depends on the size of your family. For example, if you have two kids, then a sedan or a hatchback would be nice. But then, maybe at one time or other, your kids will bring their little friends along. In that case you would need a bigger vehicle.

Maybe a minivan like Voxy is better

It is all about space. If you are going on a road trip for example, you will need to carry a lot of stuff for the little ones, including their toys, extra clothing and bedding, extra food and drinks and water. You know what the good news is? Today’s minivan handles like a small compact car, but has the space of a bus, the comfort and luxury of an SUV and many more attractive features.

Consider a minivan like Toyota Voxy, which has proved very popular in Africa. This vehicle is designed for comfort and safety primarily and all the other things are extras. It has comfortable seating and tell you what … this vehicle can seat 7 people! Isn’t that a bus? Even if you bring your extended family, they would fit in your van nicely. Sister to Toyota Noah, this minivan is a great family car. You can as well use it for business. Just removes the back seats and create more space. You will love it.

For safety, there are the driver and passenger’s airbags, both front and side and side impact bars. Other features include a sunroof, tilt-able steering wheel, amazing fuel efficiency at 23.8km/l for the hybrid version of the Voxy. Yes, one version has the hybrid drive train. But even the petrol version is almost equally efficient, all things considered with a consumption of 16km/l.

Parking assist, electric sliding doors and so on are some of the features that you should look for when buying your Voxy. This minivan is indeed the real thing for families. In general, the minivan accommodates 7-9 people. It usually has removable seats. Additionally, it has a low ground clearance making it easy to board and alight, even for kids. The sliding doors create more space for entrance and exit unlike intact traditional doors. Most of the minivans do not offer an all-wheel drive. The minivan has limited varieties to choose from, on BEFORWARD.

Sedan

The sedan accommodates up to 5 people, has an extended boot and two rows of seats. It is smaller thus uses lesser fuel compared to the SUV. It has four doors and a trunk. If you need to be moving around with lots of stuff in the trunk, this car may not be ideal for you if you have a bigger family.

The SUV and crossover SUV

The SUV is an acronym standing for Sports Utility Vehicles. These are designed for rough roads. They accommodate 5-7 people. They have three rows of seats with the cargo section just behind the third row. Therefore, you will enjoy the company of your family and the protection of your cargo. They are bigger than the sedan and consume more fuel. They are more expensive than minivans. However, SUV’s are difficult for children to board due to the raised ground clearance. They come with all-wheel drive. The SUVs come in a variety of models. The body of an SUV is mounted onto a steel frame making it dependent on the heavy steel for support. SUV’s are comfortable to drive in off- road conditions.

The crossover has some common features with the SUV model. It has upright seating position making it effective in getting the outside view as you travel. It is spacious and has a flexible cargo capacity. However, its components are welded together making it light and strong. It also lacks the ultimate off road capability that you would enjoy with the full SUV.

What is the difference between a crossover and full SUV? It’s all in the design. In the crossover, the body and frame are one entity while in the SUV the body is mounted onto a steel frame. Otherwise, the rest of the features are more or less the same.
