What Does A Car Brand Ambassador Do?

  • by Anthony Kim Jr
  • March 9, 2015

Most people are used to the word ambassador when it is used in a diplomatic setting between two countries. Well, Ambassador for brands is not any different; it stands for an individual who represents a product, in our case; a vehicle brand. The job description of a brand ambassador is similar to that of a specialized marketing representative for a certain brand. However, most of the brand ambassadors that we know today are celebrities chosen by vehicle manufacturers because of their influence on certain groups of consumers. In this case, the brand ambassador is not for the interaction with the public in person. They are the symbol of the brand and this works positively towards the increase in sales and brand recognition.

What Does An ambassador Do for the Brand?

Normally, the work of a car brand ambassador involves the provision of vehicle information, improving and creating sales opportunities and strategy to make the consumers prefer that particular car brand. This is the brand ambassador job description according to the official position. As mentioned, the celebrity brand ambassadors do not possibly have the education qualification to get that position but because of their popularity, they fit perfectly in the description of making the brand popular.

Responsibilities and Duties of car Brand Ambassadors

A car brand ambassador has a list of duties and responsibilities and if they are employed based on their academic qualifications; the duties are more than for ambassadors who are celebrities. If you want to become a brand ambassador, the education qualifications include a high school certificate or diploma, a bachelor’s degree in advertising, marketing or a related field. You should also have received training in becoming a car brand ambassador. Though this is the case, most companies will employ you and take you through the training specific to their vehicle model. If you get the job, you must be willing to work with a team, ready to go to vehicle shows and any events that are related to vehicles. You should be willing and ready to appear in newspapers, television, radio and magazines in the name of promoting the vehicle brand.

Celebrity Brand Ambassadors

Celebrities like David Beckham who is Jaguar’s brand ambassador and Yaya Toure who is the brand ambassador for Nissan, do not need to show much in academic qualifications. They are simply people who are chosen by the car company to represent one of their models or all the vehicles in general. Their appointment is based on their popularity and their character. Although they do not qualify to get the position academically, they do less work and get large checks since simple things as images of them in the car being marketed is enough to generate interest.
