The world is quickly going green and so is the transport sector. Every year, more and more eco-friendly cars are entering our roads, promising a greener future with less environmental pollution. Eco-friendly cars offer another advantage in that they save on fuel thus lowering the cost in this regard. Some of the eco-friendly cars run purely on electricity while others are a hybrid using electricity and petrol. The following are important tips to help you decide which eco-friendly car to pick from the market.

Electric or Hybrid?

The electric car is purely electrical powered and puts out no emissions into the atmosphere. Its downside is that the regular charging required so as to maintain power can be discomforting especially when taking long journeys. Examples here include Chevrolet Volt and the Nissan Leaf. As aforementioned, a hybrid offers the flexibility in that it runs on both petrol and electricity. You may consider the following; Toyota Prius or the Honda Civic.

Before buying an eco-friendly car, it is recommended that one does extensive research on pertinent issues such as the amount of maintenance required by the car over time. Also, if you are buying a used one, it is important to check with the seller, the cars history such as the number of accidents, if any, that the car has been in. additionally, how many owners has it had? And are there flaws such as scratches?

Get the Vital Features

The excitement that comes with owning an Eco-friendly car is immense and may override on the need to get the most essential features in a car. Consequently, it is important that you have the freedom to select either a manual or automatic transmission car as an example. Other important features you need to have power to choose on include whether the car is two-door or four-door, whether it is a sedan or a hatchback, whether it comes with well fitted airbags, cruise control and anti-lock brakes, etc. Technology and entertainment features are also attributes you may want to scrutinize.
