Important Features on a Car Website

Africa has grown in IT usage and car consumption. Among the services taking the continent by storm, buying and selling cars online is one of them. This has resulted to the need to find an avenue for buying and selling vehicles by the use of internet through the creation of websites and blogs. This is beneficial to both the seller and the buyer since the transaction is done by the click of a mouse.

Simplicity is paramount. No car buyer/seller will spend minutes looking for the valuation button. It must be easy to navigate such that the user knows the button to click for the service and information they need, the websites should have certain features. Some of them are listed below:

Buy a car/vehicle feature

This is the most basic feature that should be in a car website. It enables a potential customer to select a car among the many listed cars on the website. Using the feature, one will find a car by selecting the model of the car, the year of manufacturing and the price range.

Sell feature

This feature is useful to sellers. The seller is required to fill in the details of the vehicle they are selling in a form which upon submission will list the vehicle for sale on the website.

Vehicle finder

The finder is very important in a car website since if one goes to the website and cannot find the vehicle they are interested in, they can use the feature. One needs to simply click on the vehicle finder button and type in the information of the type of car they are interested in or fill in a form with the details of their dream vehicle. Once the vehicle is found, one is notified through email.

Customs/import feature

The feature is suitable for those who want import cars. It helps in determining how much duty one should pay for the vehicle they are importing. The information is important to the importer since they can know the total cost of the vehicle and therefore plan for their finances.

Vehicle insurance

It is illegal for a vehicle to go to the road without third party insurance. It is therefore crucial that a car-selling website gives information on insurance. The feature could be made in such a way that it can produce quotes from insurance providers for the customer or potential customers in both comprehensive and third party policy insurance.

Vehicle spares

A car website should be in a position to provide information on spare parts to its customers. This feature can be used to get quotes from different suppliers of spare parts together with their prices.

Customer care

The site should have an email or a phone number that the customers can use to reach support in case of questions or if they need any assistance. It could also be in form of a form that is filled with customers’ details plus their query.

Others

A car website can have as many features as possible, depending on what the owner wants to bring the customers. For example, if the business is well established, it could have features for motor news, motor sports, used cars, new cars, imported cars, tuned, and so forth. There is no limit.

    Sir.,

I AM a Kenyan resident of U.S.A, and returning back home later this year. I have been looking for information on duty waiver on cars for returning residents. So far I have learned the following.-

    - NO more than 8 years old by time of registration.
    - NO left hand passenger cars.
    – Must be used for more than 3 months by time of export.
ALL cars in USA are left hand. Who can i talk to so that i can import a right hand car from either Japan or U.K. and be able to import it immediately ? Those returning from right hand countries face no 3 month barrier rule. Please check and advise.
