Driving a defective vehicle is one of the unpleasant experiences you would want to avoid at all costs. If you are planning to buy a car, you should avoid buying new untested cars. You can go for used, tested ones and save money. News of Car recall is not rare in the automobile industry. In 1996, Ford recalled over 80,000 units of Fiesta/ Classic sedan after complaints of defective ignition switches that was a high risk for engine fires and another bunch of over 120,000 units of Figo hatchback in 2012 for their faulty rear suspension and steering unit. These recalls were intended to correct the identified defects.

The Corolla and Camry recalls

Toyota Motor Corporation, TMC, has had its share of recalls as well. Mechanical defaults were reported in the Corolla and Camry models sold between 2009 and 2011. These complaints necessitated a series of recalls with the intention of correcting the defects. The defects as documented in the Defect Information report included unintended acceleration caused by sticky accelerator pedal and faulty antilock braking software. Due to these mechanical defects filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, NHTSA, the company recalled over 9 million units worldwide.

Apart from the corolla and the Camry recalls, other models that TMC has recalled include over 437,000 units of the Lexus and the third generation Prius vehicles. In general, however, over 10 million units of Toyota models had been recalled in a series of worldwide recalls conducted between the years 2009 and 2011.

Go for used cars and save money

Buyers of used cars enjoy many benefits when they go for their preferred cars online. In this section, we are going to examine other benefits buyers of used cars can enjoy after their purchases.

Good deals: recent trends in the automobile industry indicate that stiff competition for high quality, fuel efficient small cars exists between buyers in the market. Such cars cost highly while the competition for their bigger counterparts such as trucks and SUVs, is low, thus their prices are also low. Such a situation provides a nice opportunity for buyers of such vehicles to get nice deals more especially in tight economic situations.

Reliable and high quality cars: All used cars have been test driven by their former owners to identify any electrical or mechanical defects from their manufacturers. This is one huge benefit the next owner will inherit from the previous owner. Besides, the purchase price is usually low due to the fact that educated buyers will factor in depreciation charges on the used car under sale. With these facts in mind, this market provides opportunity for buyers to get bargains in their purchases.

No unnecessary extras: sellers of new cars justify the lofty price tags due to extra yet features they install in the cars under sale. However, a buyer of used cars can get bargains by having the installations done at a cheaper price. Furthermore, the customer can install only the features they will find necessary if they cannot find the all inclusive features in a preferred car model. In this regard, the price tag of used cars is usually low.
